Losing Sales because no alternatives offered ?
If some of you had doubts pre-covid about the benefits of having a system for online sales you may have come to the obvious conclusion that online shopping in some form nowadays has to be a help to your business overall.
The simple fact is that the pandemic has changed the shopping habits of many of us.
My simple podcast reflects upon a recent shopping experience such that it struck me how many sales a business could lose by not offering alternatives to products not in stock.
For the last year, I have purchased the majority of my groceries because I noticed a local supermarket offered free local delivery. They have a website where product is displayed and you either ring in an order on the website or email it. Usually, it’s same-day delivery and I am now a grateful weekly customer- the convenience during lockdowns has been memorable.



Recently on a very rare occasion indeed a new staff member simply confirmed what wasn’t available and offered no alternatives – fair enough- so order completed.
However later when reviewing the bill I noticed that my bill was 20% less than usual – great- but look what the local business lost by not offering alternatives.
I consider the story and other things in this short podcast so listen to it and reflect how small things in a business go a long way towards affecting profit!
