See LinkedIn as an Investment and not a Waste of Time
For those of you that may be starting out it is easy to dismiss LinkedIn as “just another social media platform to have to worry about,” another space that takes up your time, but I genuinely believe that for lots of service providers, professionals and business owners, it can be so much more for you and your business.
Some may say it is hype, but LinkedIn is a place where you can build business and/or career relationships, and it is a platform where you can establish your authority in your field through your knowledge and expertise, and ultimately it can help you to attract clients who value what you do.
When you show up consistently and authentically, you’re not wasting your time— rather, you’re building a foundation for success maybe not immediately, but with time it can all really work for you.
Think of you’re using it as planting seeds. Some will sprout quickly, while others take time. But every post, comment, and connection bring you closer to your goals of awareness-promotion- and doing business.
If you are thinking of starting out using LinkedIn or indeed if you have an existing account but have not been that active on it, then do some reflection about a plan and key steps you could take?
Some Good Steps to take:
Define Your Ideal Client:
Get clear and be clear about who you’re here to serve and how you can help and spell it out.
Simplify Your Profile:
Is your profile clear? Do you need to update your Headline, About section, and visuals to reflect your brand and expertise. If so-do so!
Start Small but be consistent:
Post 2-3 times per week if at all possible and engage with your network regularly. Starting out -this should be more than manageable.
Focus on Progress, Not Perfection:
Like learning to ride a bike- it all gets easier with time and practice. Celebrate every step forward, no matter how small.
LinkedIn doesn’t have to be overwhelming or intimidating for anyone. Yes, you will have to invest time and practice but:
With the right strategy and mindset in place, you can create a LinkedIn presence that:
- Attracts your ideal client type,
- Showcases your expertise,
- And builds your own confidence.
I have created a few short posts to focus on some challenges that many people face in practice in the real-world using LinkedIn which are referenced in the slider below or on the blog, so go and check them out. The goal is to help with the generality of your mindset using the platform.
